Fondo Italiano d'Investimento SGR has acquired a majority stake in Alimenta Produzioni, a Riccione-based manufacturer of piadina, pinsa and regional savoury baked goods.

The transaction, executed through the Fondo Italiano Agri&Food (FIAF), values the company's position as a market leader in IGP Romagna piadina whilst supporting expansion plans across international markets.

Alimenta, founded in 2013 by Valter Baldacci alongside partners Alberto Fenati and Matteo Federici, employs 265 staff and reported revenues of approximately €50 million in 2025. The existing management team will retain operational control and co-invest in the business, maintaining continuity as the company enters its next development phase.

The manufacturer operates three production and logistics facilities across Emilia-Romagna and Marche. Recent infrastructure investments include a dedicated pinsa production plant, which now provides capacity for accelerated growth. Pinsa currently accounts for 30% of company turnover and has demonstrated substantial expansion over recent years.

International markets generate over one-third of total revenues, with established distribution across the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Northern European territories, Australia and the United States.

The company primarily serves large-scale retail customers whilst gradually developing its presence in food service channels.

Product development efforts include collaborations with Molino Casillo, an Apulian flour producer, on Altograno-based lines. These products contain elevated natural protein and fibre content, positioning Alimenta within the premium and health-oriented segments. The company holds exclusive licensing for Altograno applications within its product categories.

The investment strategy encompasses strengthening international distribution networks, particularly for pinsa products in key European markets, alongside developing the Ho.Re.Ca. channel in strategic territories. Planned capital expenditure includes construction of an additional production facility to accommodate market demand.

Alimenta has commenced structured sustainability practices, publishing voluntary sustainability reports. The company will extend environmental, social and governance initiatives under FIAF's framework, which prioritises responsible investment across its agri-food portfolio.

FIAF's existing holdings include Corradi and Ghisolfi, Pasta Berruto, Trinità – Industria Salumi, Scatolificio del Garda and Santangelo Group. The fund targets Italian agri-food businesses demonstrating industrial capability, distinctive product positioning and domestic and international growth potential.

The transaction requires standard regulatory clearances and is scheduled to complete within the first half of 2026.
