UK-based packaging company The Pure Option has launched the EARTHGRAIN Range, a line of 100% compostable kraft window bags designed specifically for commercial bakeries, cafes and food service operators.
The bags are constructed from two primary materials. The outer bag uses kraft paper manufactured with upcycled agricultural byproducts, including waste from grain farming. The viewing window is made from NatureFlex, a transparent film derived from certified sustainable wood pulp. Neither component contains petroleum-based plastic.
The company positions the product as a response to growing demand for packaging that allows product display without fossil-fuel films. NatureFlex offers moisture-barrier performance and high optical clarity, while the kraft outer provides grease resistance suitable for fresh baked goods. Both materials are certified home compostable, meaning the packaging is designed to break down without leaving microplastic residues.
Commercial Director Charlie Richardson described the development as a deliberate step away from conventional plastic-lined alternatives. "By combining upcycled agricultural waste from the grain industry with wood-based NatureFlex windows, we created the EARTHGRAIN Range," he said. "This packaging performs impeccably on the counter and breaks down naturally after use."
The Pure Option specialises in plant-based compostable packaging for the food and beverage sector. Its broader portfolio includes materials derived from sugarcane bagasse alongside the grain waste and wood pulp used in the EARTHGRAIN Range.
