The aroma of freshly baked brilliance filled Hall 14 as six international teams battled it out for the gold at the iba UIBC Cup of Bakers 2025, a highlight of the world’s leading trade fair for the baking and confectionery industry.

Gold went to Team France, with Corentin Molina and Yannis Thouys taking the top spot after two intense days of competition. Their exceptional skills earned them the coveted trophy, presented by UIBC President Dominique Anract and Roland Ermer, President of the German Bakers’ Confederation, at a festive awards ceremony on 19th May in the iba.FORUM.

Germany’s Johanna Lenhardt and Lea Wagner secured second place and also took home the prize for the best showpiece, while Mike Onase and Gerrit Huckriede from the Netherlands claimed third. The jury president’s creative prize went to Iceland’s Sigrun Sol Vigfusdottir and Nastasja Kiencke.

With the theme "Art", the bakers had six hours to create breads, pastries and a stunning edible showpiece, pushing the limits of craftsmanship and creativity under pressure.

Jury chairman Andreas Schmidt praised the participants, saying,

“This is artisan bakery at the highest level.”

Congratulations to all the teams for their outstanding performances and inspiring artistry.
