What I feel when I look at the new products in Delice de France's spring range is a sense of refresh and renewal, but also a strong pull towards nostalgia and a simpler time.
There is something about it that feels both new and familiar, as if it is tapping into the spirit of the season while also reflecting on comfort and tradition. Even with the idea of the Year of the Horse, which represents energy, movement and a fresh pace, there is still a grounding in foods that feel reassuring and known.
It begins with a carefully set scene. A freshly made coffee, crafted by a barista, with a delicate chocolate dusting on top, sits beside a selection of pastries. This opening moment sets the tone clearly.
It tells me that what follows belongs in a relaxed, social setting such as a local coffee shop or tea room, where everything feels acceptable, a little refined, but still easy and welcoming.

We then move into bagels. They are recognisable and dependable, yet still carry a sense of indulgence. For some, they remain slightly elevated, something a bit more considered than everyday bread, but still familiar enough to feel comfortable. They bridge the gap between treat and routine.
From here, the tone shifts and becomes more playful, almost like stepping back in time. It brings back memories of childhood and those small but meaningful food moments. A big slice of pizza that immediately recalls after school treats or trips out. Chips with curry sauce on the way home. This is unmistakably Friday food, the feeling of heading into the weekend with no worries, where food was part of the reward and the routine.

There is also a strong connection to school day nostalgia. Apple pie from the canteen, doughnuts that came with the unspoken challenge not to lick your lips, and simple sandwiches with classic fillings. These were easy choices. You knew what you liked and you chose it without hesitation.
There was no overload of options, no long lists of ingredients, just straightforward, satisfying food.
The range finishes with something softer and more comforting. Tomato soup with a roll brings a sense of warmth and reassurance, something you turn to when you need comfort or familiarity. Paired with a cheese sandwich, or in this case a cheese bretzel, it keeps that same feeling while adding a slight modern touch.

Overall, the range feels like a journey. It starts in a calm, contemporary café setting, moves through everyday indulgence, dips into childhood memories, and settles into comfort. It is not just about the food itself, but about the feelings and moments each item brings back.
