Company news

Established in 2017, the Food Innovation Centre, based at the University of Nottingham, has supported 300+ food & drink businesses with their journeys from concept to consumption, through access to specialist innovation support and the University of Nottingham’s food science and technology knowledge base and facilities.  We provide support through joint development projects, advisory services, workshops and collaborative research for Food & Drink manufacturing and processing businesses. We aim to help companies develop new products, processes and services and to expand their businesses through access to high quality and effective academic knowledge, people and facilities. Some examples of the type of work the team can provide include:

· bespoke ‘development days’ to trial and review your recipe or process in our development kitchen, or undertake formulation refinement

· advise on process development and scale up options

· conduct sensory evaluation on your products or train your team on practical sensory evaluation that can be implemented in-house

· design and implement shelf-life studies

· trial pilot equipment to assess its suitability for your formulation and process before you invest

· link you to accredited service providers for analytical testing and advise what to test for

· ingredient testing/research

· undertake literature reviews to guide your formulation or process
